Gail Pan books

 

We are writing this on a very dreary rainy day.  We don't let the lack of sunshine damper our mood though.....we just look at it as an opportunity to stay inside and sew or stitch.  One of our friends sent a photo of the sweetest little robin babies.  It looks as thought mama robin gathered up a variety of "stuff" to make a comfortable home for her little ones.

This week we are featuring books by one of our favorite stitchery designers, Gail Pan.  Gail lives in Australia and designs projects that are quick and easy.  They're great take along on vacation and to appointment type projects.  Her newest book, Tabletop Stitchery contains 12 projects.  Pictured below are three of the projects Debby stitched.  We didn't make kits but would be happy to put kits together for you.  Please e-mail info@sewgracefulquilting.com for more info.  The book is 48 pages, $19.99

We've been waiting for the next Lynette Anderson button club for several years.  We were very excited when she e-mailed a few months ago to let us know about her new program, Say it with Flowers.  Several of you have already signed up but we want to let you (and everyone) know more details about the program.   Each month for 4 months you'll receive the pattern, a hand painted button and fabric for the monthly installment. During the 4th month, you'll receive binding for the quilt in addition to your monthly shipment. A New Wall Hanging to Celebrate all the Seasons

 

This week we are starting off by sharing a super cute new wall hanging made by Darlene.  The detail is amazing -- look at that cute ladybug and mouse!  Backgrounds are cotton and the applique is wool.  Your $42.95 "In the Season Thereof" kit includes the pattern, wool for applique, borders and binding.  It finishes 22 1/2" x 26".  If you'd like a thread kit, we'll be happy to put one together for you.

Get them before they're gone forever

 

We are very sad to hear of the passing of Rebekah Smith.  She battled an inoperable brain tumor for about a year.  We have several of her projects available as kits and are in the process of putting together several other samples and kits.  We'll let you know when they're available.  Her unique design style and gracious personality will be long remembered.   It's been another busy week at Sew Graceful.  We are working on putting together a list of classes.  If there's something you'd like us to offer, please e-mail info@sewgracefulquilting.com.   We have also been working to get several items back in stock.  We were sad to learn we won't be able to make more kits for two of our favorite quilts:  Scraps of my Life and Warm Wishes.  We have less than 8 of each and once they're gone, they're gone forever.   The Scraps of my Life kit includes 160 - 5" squares of Diamond Textile fabric for the center background blocks, border applique, and border tabs. If you look closely, you'll see how beautifully smooth the turned edges on the applique appear.  Kay used the Apliquick method to turn the edges.  Once the edges are prepared, she simply stitched the shapes to the background.

The Apliquick tools are two rods which are used to turn the seam allowances.  Both rods have a pointed end; one has a forked end; one has a flat beveled end.  With just a little practice, you'll find yourself with amazing results.  We are offering the rods by themselves for $43.95.   We have also put together an Apliquick starter kit.  It includes the rods, a glue stick with one refill and 5 sheets of applique paper.  $56.95

Fun embroidery projects

 

Spring in NW Arkansas is slowly arriving, and we couldn't be more pleased.  The trees and early spring flowers are just breathtaking.  Darlene had a wonderful time at the show in Cassville and is hoping for an invitation back to the next show.   This week we are sharing a couple of quick finishes.  They're both great take along projects.   The first, Quilt Sampler, finishes 11 1/2" x 14".  Your $19.95 kit includes the pattern, fabrics for the top and binding.  Please note that you will need to trace the pattern to the background fabric.  If you'd like a ball of the Valdani perle cotton size 12 that Debby used, please let us know when you place your order.  The thread is an additional $5.45 for the ball.   Who doesn't love a new tea towel?  If you plan to give Easter gift, the Cottage Flowerpot Tea Towel would make a great gift.  Your $14.95 kit includes the pattern, tea towel and trim.
