Spring projects

Last week we mentioned our mom was in a rehab center and needed to keep the shop closed to have the flexibility to check on her.  She was released and is now back home doing well.  We have, however, decided to keep the shop closed until further notice.  We are still more than happy to meet you at the shop if you need quilting supplies or some human interaction.  We also can be available for quilting drop off or pick up.  Please text or call Darlene at 479-372-7403 to arrange meeting(s).

A quick check of our calendar reveals Easter is right around the corner, April 12.  We thought it would be fun to share spring/Easter themed projects this week.  First is Debby's tea towel of the month appropriately named "Easter Tea Towel".  Your $11.95 kit includes the pattern and tea towel.  If you'd like us to put together a thread kit containing Valdani perle cotton size 12, let us know when you place your order.
Darlene's "Garden Bunny" finishes 6 1/2" x 6 1/2" so fits on an Ackfeld table stand.  Your $16.95 kit includes the pattern, blue background wool, wool for the applique, cotton background, cotton backing fabric and buttons (flower buttons may vary from what is shown).

Stands are available for $19.95 plus shipping.
It seems like months ago since Kim taught her words class but it's only been a few weeks.  She's created a couple of really sweet spring themed runners.  You will need to purchase the book Words with Wool for $16.95.  Once you have the book, you can create an endless variety of runners.
"Hop" is $9.95.  The tray is not included in the kit.
"Spring" is $9.95.
"Garden" is $12.95.
This week for our "when it's gone, it's gone" section, we have a couple kits left for Kay's "1805 Pillow". The kit includes the pattern with full size templates, fabrics for front and back of pillow and binding.
Finishes 19" x 40"
$36.95 - please e-mail info@sewgracefulquilting.com to reserve your kit

We hope you are staying safe and productive.  It seems the rain in our area is subsiding which means more opportunities to get out for a walk.  We will be back next Thursday.

New spring projects

What a difference a week can make!  Last week at this time we were eagerly anticipating the Dallas show and now everything from the Dallas show to spring Quilt Market to the April AQS Paducah show have been cancelled or rescheduled.  The quilt market owner is looking at doing a virtual market and Paducah has been rescheduled for Sep 2-5.

We made the decision to close the shop until March 31 for several reasons.  Our mother had a couple of falls which put her in the hospital for a while.  She is now in a rehab center for up to 14 days.  Needing to be flexible to visit mom, the fact the grandkids are out of school and the virus led to our decision to close temporarily.  However, we are happy to come to the shop and meet you if you need a shopping experience or to drop off a quilt for quilting.  We also are monitoring our on line shop and e-mails and will continue to mail.  Please call or text Darlene at 479-372-7403 to see up a meeting.

As we mentioned above, the Dallas show was cancelled.  We arrived in Dallas, set up our booth and went to dinner.  The next morning we were told the show was cancelled.  We were disappointed but definitely understood.....we decided to put a positive spin on the situation and look at is as good practice for future shows.  We had a lot of time to plan future projects as we drove home.
The spring issue of Simply Vintage magazine arrived and, as usual, is filled with lots of adorable projects.  The price of the magazine has increased by $1 making it $18.99 but when you do the math you'll see each project is only 94 cents.

If you're on auto ship, Debby has processed your order.
The first project we want to share looks difficult but actually is quite easy.  We chose to make ours using Diamond Textile's Common Thread line of fabric.  The pattern can be found in the Spring 2017 issue of Primitive Quilts & Projects magazine.  Your $19.95 kit includes the magazine, fabrics for the top, wool for the applique and binding.  It finishes 9 3/4" x 12 1/2".
The next project is also found in Primitive Quilts & Project magazine (Spring 2016 issue).  "Simply Stated" by Briar Roots was a quick and fun project to make.  We chose to frame ours but it could easily be finished as a small wall hanging or pillow.  Your $15.95 kit includes the magazine, background fabric and wool.  Finishes 8" x 10".
This week for our "when it's gone, it's gone" section, we have one kit for In the Meadow.  The kit includes the pattern, background fabric with stabilizer and binding.  We finished ours as a pillow but it would be equally nice finished as a wall hanging.

$22.95 - please e-mail info@sewgracefulquilting.com to reserve your kit

We will be back next Thursday with projects we hope inspire you.

The perfect subtle quilt

By the time many of you read this Darlene and Kay will be headed to Dallas for the Quilters Guild of Dallas show.  For more info visit https://www.quiltersguildofdallas.org/quilters-guild-of-dallas-show.  If you're in the Dallas area (or plan a road trip), stop by and say hi.  They have several new kits they will be debuting at the show.

While they are gone, Debby will keep the shop open regular hours Thursday and Saturday (9:00-3:00).
The most recent issue of Punch Needle and Primitive Stitcher arrived.  It includes 19 designs.  Debby is our punch needle expert and is trying to decide which project to work on first.  Darlene looks at the designs and dreams of ways to convert them to wool applique.  $9.99

If you're on auto ship, Debby is processing your order.
Grandma's Girl is a quick and easy quilt to make.  Its muted colors feature Kathy Schmitz' line "Home".  The subtle colors make it a great accent quilt.  It also would be a nice graduation quilt for that special someone who may be heading to college in the fall.

It measures 62" x 70".  Kits include everything needed to make the quilt top and binding.  $64.95
If you've followed us long, you know how much we enjoy Little Red Button Company patterns.  When Darlene saw "Spring Sampler" she knew she absolutely must make the sample.  Your $24.95 kit includes the background fabrics (an assortment of 8 fabrics), borders, binding, backing fabric, wool for the applique and the button back (the flowers are actually tiny buttons).  It finishes 13" x 15".
Before we close we want to share details about our next monthly class.  Sharon will be teaching how to construct the Lazy Ewe sheep.  She has tips that will make construction a breeze.....you'll want to make an entire flock of sheep.  The workshop is scheduled for Thursday, April 2 from 9:30-12:30 at Sew Graceful.  Cost is $10 teaching fee plus $$34.95 kit fee.  In addition to the pattern and wool, the kit includes a sprig of lavender, the rusty bell and butterfly button.

Please e-mail info@sewgracefulquilting.com to sign up.

Below is a photo of the sheep along with several other cute projects....we just can't help but share everything because we love everything we make!
This week for our "when it's gone, it's gone" section, we have one kit of Jan Patek's "Friends are Made in Heaven".  The kit includes the pattern, fabrics for the quilt top and binding.  It finishes 46" x 22".

$32.95 - please e-mail info@sewgracefulquilting.com to reserve your kit

See you soon.

Spring birds

Have you noticed the birds chirping lately?  Sometimes the sound is almost deafening as we enjoy our walks.  If you live near water you've likely heard the frogs also.  Birds, frogs and daffodils which are showing  means spring is just around the corner.

This week we'd like to share a few kits featuring birds.  We have seen dozens of cardinals the past week and enjoy listening to them call to each other.  We suspect baby birds will soon be on the way.  The "Spring Cardinals" quilt finishes 20" x 20" so is a nice size for a small area in your home.  It would also be a nice addition to an RV.  Your $32.95 kit includes the pattern, fabrics for the quilt top and binding.  The pattern contains two additional patterns for a fall and summer quilt.

This kit is all cotton.
"He Restores" is a combination of wool applique and embroidery on a Diamond Textile cotton background.  Your $24.95 kit includes the pattern, fabrics for the top, wool and binding.  Finishes 14" x 19 1/4".

If you'd prefer to use your own materials the pattern is available for $9.  Please note, we changed the pattern from entirely embroidery to wool applique and embroidery.
Kits are back in stock for Kay's "Friends for Life" kit.  It is designed to be displayed on one of the large metal oval trays; however, it would look like as a table mat.  Your $36.95 kit includes the pattern, background cotton, wool for applique, backing fabric and rick rack.  It finishes 12" x 21 1/2".  If you'd prefer to use your own materials, the pattern is available for $10.

We will be happy to send the metal tray; however, additional shipping fees will be required.
We are very excited to share our friend Deborah Rubles' book, Quilters' Cutting Guide.  If you do much piecing this is a must have resource.  She has figured out the math and provides more than 30 charts to guide you through cutting strips, squares and rectangles.  The book is written for both left and right handed quilters.  As you can see, it's spiral bound (yay!!).  Best of all, no specialized rulers are required.  $28.99
This week for our "when it's gone, it's gone" section, we are featuring a sewing case designed by Lynette Anderson. We have one kit left for the Willowhouse Needlecase.  The kit includes the pattern, fabrics for the case, wool for applique and tape measure which you will learn how to cover.

$29.95 - please e-mail info@sewgracefulquilting.com to reserve your kit

We will soon be packing for the Dallas show.  We are happy to be your personal shopper.  Please e-mail info@sewgracefulquilting.com by March 10 with items you'd like us to bring.

See you soon.
