Lots of inspiration

Kay had a great time at the quilt show in Mountain Home last week.  Easy loading and unloading, beautiful quilts and sweet people made for a great show.  While she was away, the shop was packed with people who were in town for the craft fairs.  Thanks to everyone who stopped by the booth and the shop.  We couldn't do it without your support.

Since the weather is supposed to turn frightfully cold this weekend, we thought it fitting to share a project that will get you in the mood for winter.  "Little Winter Wonderland" was designed by our friend from Australia, Lynette Anderson.  It features a couple of her sweet hand painted reindeer buttons.  Your $38.95 kit includes the pattern, fabrics for the top, buttons and binding.  It finishes 12" x 14".
Our winter shipment of Wool Works magazines arrived.  After filling our automatic ship orders, we have a few left.  First come, first served.  Visit our website https://www.sewgracefulquilting.com/index.html email (info@sewgracefulquilting.com) or call 479-372-7403 to reserve your copy.  $10.99
Several weeks ago our favorite fabric guy Jon from Moda stopped by.  Sometimes he's sneaky and saves the best for last.  He showed us a lot of fabric including a whole stack of bright fabric.....we were so disappointed there was nothing of interest to our look until.......he pulled out the most scrumptious pile of Jo Morton fabrics we've ever seen.  We couldn't help ourselves; we bought the entire line.

"New Hope" ships in January and we cannot wait.  We have a plan for the fabric and think you'll be pleased with what we've got up our sleeves.  If you spot a fabric you know you must have, please let us know and we'll be sure we have enough on hand to accommodate your request.
The winter issue of Primitive Quilts & Projects magazine arrived.  In addition to Kay's "Sparkle" quilt, the issue contains 14 more projects.  If you haven't reserved your copy, please let us know and we'll hold a copy for you.  $9.99
We're not sure how the newest wool applique book slipped through the cracks.  "Sweet and Simple Wool Applique" looks like a fabulous book filled with designs from some of our favorite primitive designers.  Contributors include Anne Downs, Lori Brechlin, Stacy Nash, Dawn Heese, Renee Plains, Cherie Ralston (and more).  The book includes a variety of projects in a variety of sizes.  19 projects for only $21.95.....$1.16 per project.

This would make a great Christmas gift for a quilty friend.  You can pre-order via our website https://www.sewgracefulquilting.com/index.html, e-mail info@sewgracefulquilting.com or call 479-372-7403.
Holiday gift giving is right around the corner and we know many of you are looking for quick projects that look like they took a long time to create.  We think anyone would be happy to receive a Cottage Clutch.  The instructions are clear and easy to follow.  Your $24.95 Cottage Clutch kit includes the pattern and wool to make the clutch.  The buttons are not included in your kit - we thought it might be fun to sort through your button box and find the perfect buttons.  If you don't have a button box and need buttons, we can take care of you.
Kay is making a quick trip to quilt market in Houston.  Hopefully she will return with some fun new projects.  We'll be back next week with more to inspire you.  See you soon.

The Wooly fun has begun!

We have a lot to share this week so are going to jump right in.  The Wooly Row by Row Experience began Oct 16.  We're so excited to be a part of this program.  You're probably familiar with the Row by Row program which ran this summer - this is the wool version of the same program.....with a few changes.  Unlike the cotton version program, you don't have to physically visit the shop to participate.  We can mail the pattern, wool kit and thread kit directly to you.

For more info and a list of participating shops visit https://www.rowbyrowexperience.com/wooly.htm

We finished our block "Basket of Blossoms" to fit on an 8" Ackfeld stand. We can't wait to make a second sample and finish it as a journal cover.  If you'd like a pattern, kit and thread kit, please e-mail (info@sewgracefulquilting.com) or visit our website http://www.sewgracefulquilting.com/
Kay has made good progress on "Mary's Farmhouse", our $10 block of the month for 2018.  Starting January 2018, each month for 12 months you'll receive a pattern, background cotton and wool for applique.  During the 12th month, you'll also receive binding.  Cost is $10 per month plus shipping if you can't come to the shop.  There's no finishing kit or additional expense at the end of the program.  We also have an optional thread kit available.

Here's a photo of the quilt with borders in progress.  Finished size will be approximately 36" x 36".

Please give us a call at 479-372-7403 to sign up.
Every time we look at "Moon Dance" we can't help but smile.  It's quirky but sometimes we enjoy a little quirky.  Ours is framed but it would be equally cute finished as a wall hanging or pillow....or how about a door hanger to great trick or treaters later this month?

Your $21.95 kit includes the pattern, background cotton, wool for applique and buttons for embellishment.
Another fun fall project is "What a Hoot" by Erin Bush.  Your $28.95 kit includes the pattern, background cotton, wool for applique and binding.  It finishes 15 1/2" x 15 1/2".
The weather is perfect for a road trip to Mountain Home to visit Kay at the Hill 'N Hollows Quilters show.  Distance from Rogers to Mountain Home is 130 miles; you're sure to see some beautiful scenery along the way.  The show starts today (Oct 19) and ends Oct 21.  She's got several brand new projects she's eager to share.  For more info visit http://hillnhollowquilters.com/
If you're planning to visit any of the local craft shows, please plan to stop by and see us at the shop.  We'll be open today (Thurs) and Sat 9:00-3:00.  See you soon.

New Mary Koval inspiration book

As we sit at the computer and write this the temperature is a chilly 58 degrees; the skies are cloudy - perfect weather for stitching or snuggling up with a good book.  Of course, our wacky weather will quickly change this weekend with projected temps in the mid-80s; however, we've noticed the warm periods are becoming shorter as we transition into fall.

If you enjoy looking at antique quilts as much as us, we know you'll enjoy Joe & Mary Koval's soon to be released book "Piece by Piece, Our Life with Quilts".  The book is published by Quiltmania so we know it'll be outstanding quality and content.  It's a coffee table book so we suspect will be oversize which may mean additional postage for those who need it mailed.  The book should be out within the next couple of weeks.  We are taking pre-orders now.  $56.95

Please note.....we haven't seen the book yet but indications are it is not a pattern book but a book of inspiration and stories.   It contains 100 photos.
We're very excited Quiltmania decided to reprint Yoko Saito's Mystery Quilt project.  It's a pattern we've studied many times and one which always causes us to smile.  We are putting together an order so let us know if we can reserve a copy for you.  The quilt finishes 56 1/2" x 57".  $29.95
We found a few more patterns so have made more kits for "Boo to You".  Easy piecing and wool applique almost guarantee you'll have this complete in time for fall decorating.  Your $24.95 kit includes the pattern, background cottons, wool for applique and binding. Finishes 14" x 16"
Several people have contacted us about whether we will be at the JQ Hammons Embassy Suites fall craft show next week (Oct 20 & 21).  Unfortunately, we will not have a booth at the show.  We can't be two places at once and chose to vend at the Hill 'n Hollows Quilters guild show in Mountain Home AR.

If you're planning to be in NW Arkansas for the craft shows, please plan to visit the shop Thurs (Oct 19) or Sat (Oct 21) from 9:00-3:00.
The Hill 'N Hollows Quilters show is Oct 19, 20 (9:00-5:00) and 21 (9:00-4:00) at the Baxter County Fairgrounds (Education Building), 1507 Fairgrounds Drive, Mountain Home AR.  Admission is $5 with children 12 and under admitted free.  For more info visit http://hillnhollowquilters.com/

If you would like Kay to bring a specific item for you, please e-mail (info@sewgracefulquilting.com) by Oct 15.  She will be packing on the 16th and will be sure to include your special requests.  She will have several new projects to share including the newest metal tray mat and an adorable snowman project Debby created.

Below is the guild opportunity quilt.
We'll be back next week with more to inspire you.  See you soon.

New project in Primitive Quilts Winter 2017 issue

Since the winter issue of Primitive Quilts & Projects magazine will arrive shortly we thought we'd share Kay's project that's contained in the magazine.  "Sparkles" is a fun quilt to make with lots of pretty stitching to add interest.  Darlene's beautiful quilting brought it to life.  The quilt finishes 41" x 43".  We have kits available for $36.95.  Please note you will need the winter 2017 issue of the Primitive Quilts & Projects magazine for the pattern.

Kay used Valdani perle cotton size 12 in colors P2 and O775.  We can include a ball of each in your kit for an additional $4.95 per ball.
If you'd like to reserve a copy of the winter issue of Primitive Quilts & Projects, please e-mail (info@sewgracefulquilting.com) or call 479-372-7403.  We'll hold a copy for you.
Speaking of stitching and embellishing.....we have so much fun making Crabapple Hill Designs pieces.  Getting out the box of crayons to color the piece always brings back a flood of childhood memories.  Remember the excitement of getting a new box of crayons?  And how they smelled?  Oh how exciting if the box was the giant one with the built in sharpener!  Such fun and simple times.

Debby did a fabulous job coloring and stitching "When Witches Fly".  Your $22.95 kit includes the pattern, fabric for the top and binding.  It finishes 15" x 16 1/2".  If you'd prefer to use your own supplies, we have the pattern available for $9.95.
Before we close we'd like to share news of two upcoming quilt shows.  The Country Fare Quilters Guild show will be held Oct 20 (9:00-5:00) & 21 (9:00-4:00) at the Claremore Community Center, 2301 N Sioux, Claremore OK.  Admission is $5 and children under 12 are admitted free.  For more info visit http://www.countryfarequiltersguild.org/

Below is a photo of the guild donation quilt.

Kay will have a booth filled with all sorts of things to inspire and entice you.  She will also be happy to demonstrate the Apliquick method of applique.  You'll be amazed at the results you can achieve using this method.

We'll be back next week with more to inspire you.  See you soon.
