Mr Fall Scarecrow

Kay had a wonderful time at the Claremore show.  Lots of beautiful quilts, yummy food, easy loading/unloading access, and many offers from guild members for bathroom breaks.....sometimes it's the little things that matter a great deal when you're vending by yourself.

We are winding down our travel schedule for the year.  Darlene will give a presentation to the Pieces & Patches Guild in Rogers on Monday, Nov 7 and Kay will have a trunk show and workshop at the Bartlesville (OK) Piecemakers Guild Nov 11.  If you'd like us to vend at your show, teach, or give a trunk show at your event in 2017, please send us an e-mail (info@sewgracefulquilting.com).  We love traveling and sharing our love of what we do with everyone!

Our winter shipment of Primitive Quilts & Projects magazine finally arrived.  The magazine has some great projects including "Wandering Beauty" by Kay.  Kits for Wandering Beauty are $24.95 and include fabrics for the top and binding.  You'll need the magazine for the pattern.  $9.99

Our newest project, Fall Scarecrow, is just too adorable.  His little smile just makes us smile every time we look at him.  Your $19.95 kit includes the pattern, background fabric which has been distressed to give it a primitive look, wool for applique, borders, binding, and backing.  Once we sell all of these kits, we won't be able to make more.  The designer won't sell wholesale any longer so we aren't able to get more patterns.
If you follow us on Facebook, you probably noticed our post about the lack of snow in the near future.  If you've been longing for snowy weather, maybe this throw will make you smile.  Your $42.95 kit includes the pattern, fabrics for the top, and binding.  The quilt finishes 46" x 55" so is a nice size for the back of a chair.
Fall quilt market starts tomorrow.  Kay and Erin are taking a road trip and searching out new goodies for the shop.  Unfortunately, several of our favorite primitive designers won't be at market but they'll do their best to find the unique and fun projects.  We'll be back next week with an after-market report.
See you soon.

Exciting news about Jo Morton and Kim Diehl

We had a great time visiting with everyone during the craft fair at the John Q Hammons center last week.  Lots of you sought us out and we appreciate your kindness as there were lots of enticing booths there.

A group of ladies came into the booth oooohing and aaaahing.  One commented "Oh that's so cute!".  Her two friends looked at each other, smiled and said you owe us a Coke.  They'd made a pact that they weren't allowed to use the word "cute" during their craft fair shopping excursion.  OK.......just how can you shop at Sew Graceful and not use the word "cute"?!  I'm afraid we would just have to buy a case of Coke because there's no way we could not use the word.

Very exciting news.  Jo Morton and Kim Diehl have teamed up to write a book entitled "Simple Friendships".  It won't be available until mid-Feb but looks like it'll be worth waiting for.  According to the Martingale website the book is "Ideal for quilters who love scrappy patchwork style and classic applique."  That sounds just like us. 128 pages, $28.99

If you'd like to reserve a copy, email us at info@sewgracefulquilting.com and we'll get your name on the list.

We've been promising you a project that's sure to make you smile and finally have it ready.  Many of you will smile as you read the sentiment stitched on this fun piece -- "Trick or treat, smell my feet, give me something good to eat."  Jo Ann Mulally designed this fun piece; she's retired now but we were able to get a few patterns.  Once these kits are gone, they're gone for good.

Your $19.95 kit includes the pattern, sandcastle fabric for the stitching background (it's a wonderful toasty color), borders, binding, and flannel for the backing.  You may notice Kay hand quilted her quilt.  It's very easy to do the same with yours using Valdani perle cotton 12......not everything has to be machine quilted.
If you're looking for a quilt that looks difficult but is simple to construct, our Dresden Trail is for you.  The quilt finishes 53" x 66" so is the perfect size for snuggling under during the cool evenings.  Your $76.95 kit includes the pattern, fabric for the top, and binding.  The dresden tool is required and we will include it free of charge.
If you've been wanting to try some hand dyed velvet, we have bundles available.  Each bundle contains 9 - 8 1/2" x 10 1/2" of the most yummy hand dyed velvet.  Each bundle is $40.50.  If a small bundle won't satisfy your love for all things velvet, we have fat quarter bundles of the same 9 luscious velvets for $162.  Let us know if we can reserve a bundle of yumminess for you.

Since the velvet has been hand dyed, there may be variations in the color but each piece is beautiful.
Kay will be at the Country Fare Quilter's Guild show in Claremore OK Fri (Oct 21 - 9-5) and Saturday (Oct 22 - 9-4).  The show will be held at the Claremore Community Center, 2301 N Sioux Ave.  She will have several new projects to share.  For more info, visit http://www.countryfarequiltersguild.org/

Hope to see you at the show or in the shop this weekend.

Too much cuteness!

Fall craft fair week has finally arrived.  If you're local you probably have noticed the increased traffic; if you're not local......there's a lot (like thousands) of visitors in the area.  The number will increase this weekend in anticipation of the Razorback game in Fayetteville.

We will have a booth at the John Q Hammons Center in Rogers off I-49 on Friday and Saturday.  We hope we're in the same location (the first room on the left as you enter the convention center).  In addition to lots of great kits at the show, we plan to have a few shop samples for sale.  The shop will be open regular hours Thursday and Saturday (9:00-3:00) and will be closed Friday.

Darlene designed a really adorable table topper using some very darling buttons.  "Snowflakes" finishes 13 1/2" x 29 1/2".  Your $21.95 kit includes the pattern, fabric for the top, wool for applique, and an assortment of buttons.  We're including a closeup photo of one of the snowmen -- notice the carrot button nose and the buttons down his belly -- they're all included as well as snowflake buttons.

If you'd prefer to use your own materials, the pattern is available for $8 and the button pack is $4.95.

We finished "Kitty Corn" as a pillow but it would be equally cute finished as a wall hanging or table mat.  Your $16.95 kit includes the pattern, fabric for the pillow front and back, and wool for applique.  If you'd prefer to use your own supplies, the pattern is available for $10.
We are waiting on our shipment of the winter issue of Primitive Quilts & Projects.  If you haven't reserved your copy and would like to, please call us at 479-372-7403 or e-mail us at info@sewgracefulquilting.com and we'll be sure you get a copy.
The magazine contains many great projects including Kay's "Wandering Beauty" table runner.  The fabric should arrive within a week so we are taking pre-orders on the kit.  The table runner finishes 16 1/2" x 40".  Your $24.95 kit includes fabric for the top and binding.  You must have the magazine in order to get the pattern.
If you're in the Fort Smith area (or would like to escape the crowds up here), why not plan a visit to the Belle Point Quilters Guild show this Friday (9-6) or Saturday (9-3).  The show is held at the Fort Smith Convention Center, 55 South 7th Street.  Admission is only $6 with lots of free parking.  For more info, visit http://www.bellepointquiltersguild.org/

Mark your calendar for the Country Fare Quilter's Guild show in Claremore OK next Fri (Oct 21 - 9-5) and Saturday (Oct 22 - 9-4).  Their show will be held at the Claremore Community Center, 2301 N Sioux Ave.  We will be a vendor at the show.  For more info, visit http://www.countryfarequiltersguild.org/

Hope to see you at the John Q Hammons Center or in the shop this weekend.

Block of the month update

Do you sometimes feel as though life is moving too quickly?  It seems like we hit the "send" button on Thursday and in the blink of an eye it's time to hit "send" again.  When we were kids it seemed like forever between holidays and now the holidays roll by much too quickly.  Oh well.....I guess the moral of the story is to enjoy every day and not fret about tomorrow.

Fall decorating is right around the corner so we wanted to share a very cute piece Debby recently finished.  "When Witches Fly" is a Crabapple Hill design.  Meg finished hers with 9-patch units but we wanted a more simple finish to allow the embroidery to be the star of the show.  We used Bunny Hill Designs' "Spooky Delight" line to finish ours and think it looks great.  Your $22.95 kit includes the pattern, fabric for the top, and binding.
Debby also finished the winter angel.  She's the 4th in a series of seasonal angels.  Your $14.95 kit includes the pattern, background fabric, buttons, and all wool for the applique.  We also included the metallic thread for the halo since some of you probably don't keep metallic thread on hand.

If you missed any of the other seasonal angels (or just decided you must have them all), give us a call at 479-372-7403.  Alternatively, you can order on line by visiting our website Sew Graceful Quilting

With cooler weather on the horizon we know many of you will enjoy staying home and stitching.  A block of the month is a great way to ensure you have a monthly stitching project.....think of it as a gift you give yourself each month.

Several of our blocks of the month are almost closed so we wanted to give you a quick update in case you've been undecided about whether to join.  Please note that all our blocks of the month include fabrics and/or wool to complete the quilt top and binding.  We never require you to purchase a finishing kit.  We also never require a sign up fee to join any of our blocks of the month.

If you'd like to join any (or all) of these programs, please call Darlene at 479-372-7403.  She will need your mailing address (if you're not local) and payment information.

The Animals has only a couple of openings left.  Backgrounds are Diamond Textiles woven fabrics; applique is wool.  The pattern with full size templates is included.  Quilt finishes 48" x 53".  $19.95 per month for 12 months.
Here's a photo of a portion of the quilt hanging in our booth in Springfield after it was quilted.  I think you'll agree the quilting enhances the quilt.
Camp Runamuk has a couple of openings.  The quilt finishes 48" x 56".  Background fabrics are wovens from Diamond Textiles and Kamla.  The applique is wool.  You will receive full size templates each month.  $19.95 per month for 12 months.
The Community Sampler also has only 2 openings.  Each month you'll receive a color coded chart to make assembling your blocks easy.  The quilt finishes 84" x 84".  Cost is $19.95 per month for 12 months.
Winter Sampler has only 4 openings left.  This quilt is primarily cotton applique with a little wool thrown in here and there.  It finishes 60" x 70".  You will receive full size templates each month.  $24.95 per month for 12 months.
One last item before we close for the week.  A sewing case designed and stitched by Kay has turned up missing.  Next time you're in the shop we'd appreciate you keeping an eye open for it.  Sometimes people pick up a sample, get distracted while oooohing and aaaaahing, and lay the sample down in an place where it doesn't belong.

Here's a photo of "Pocketful of Posies".  We have kits available for $16.95; if you'd prefer to use your own supplies the pattern is $9.
We'll be back next week with a fun kit that will surely bring back fun memories.
