Let's think snow!

Kay and Skylar, Darlene's granddaughter, had a great time visiting at the Joplin Area Town and Country Quilters Guild.  Kay presented a wool trunk show and enjoyed sharing her enthusiasm of wool applique with the guild members.  Skylar shared a couple of her projects including her first quilt she made when she was five years old.  Kay sends a thank you to those who traveled a long distance to attend the event.

Kay is working on her 2023 calendar.  If your guild would be interested in her coming to visit, please e-mail her at yakharmon@cox.net

With the unbearably hot weather we thought it would be nice to share a few snow themed kits this week.  First is Winter Wonderland.  We love how the designer handed the 3-D border strip.  It adds dimension and interest to the quilt.  Your $27.95 kit includes the pattern, background cotton, wool for applique, border, binding and backing fabric.  It finishes 12" x 12".

If you'd prefer to use your own materials, the pattern is available for $9.

The next small piece is a Skinnie that is made to fit on a Stix.......if you're a new subscriber that may sound like gibberish.  Skinnies are small pieces that finish 3 1/2" x 7".  They are designed to be displayed on a metal stand (Stix) that is available in 8", 10" or 12" heights.

Your $15.95 "Frosty" kit includes the pattern, background cotton, wool for applique, and cotton backing.  The display Stix is an additional $4.95.  If you e-mail your order, please let us know which height of Stix you'd prefer.
We are down to our last few Tidings of Joy kits.  Your $36.95 kit includes the pattern, background fabrics, wool for applique, and binding. Some fabrics may vary slightly from the photograph.

We also are including instructions for making the outside piping the easy way.

New Blackbird Designs' Block of the Month

This week we are super excited to share details of our new block of the month which begins Aug 1.  Our version of "Birds of a Feather" features Blackbird Designs' new fabric line along with some coordinating fabrics we had on hand.  The block of the month will  begin August 1 and last for 12 months.  Each month you'll receive fabric to make a block (or two); during the last month you'll receive fabric for the pieced blocks, borders and binding.  We made several changes to the pattern and the changes will be included as part of the program.  Quilt finishes 62" x 73".

Cost per month is $15.95.  The pattern is in the book "Birds of a Feather" and is sold separately.  $24.95

Please e-mail info@sewgracefulquilting.com or call 479-372-7403 to sign up.  We will need your payment and shipping information.  Please note you are not signed up for the program until we receive that info.
We're excited to share another fun fall project, Hocus Pocus.  We love how Kay combined fabrics from the Cheddar and Coal line along with Diamond Textile fabrics for the pieced blocks.  The quilt features wool applique in the corners and center of the quilt and paper pieced log cabin blocks.  Your $94 kit includes the pattern, fabrics for the quilt top, wool for applique, borders and binding.  The quilt finishes 39" square.

We found several products were helpful as we made the quilt.  Optional items are pictured below.  If you'd like to add any (or all) of these tools to your kit, please let us know when you place your order.

The Add a Quarter ruler is an invaluable aid in paper piecing.  Ruler measures 1" x 6".  $9.49

Another helpful tool is "Simple Foundations" paper by C and T Publishing.  The paper is a translucent vellum foundation that tears away easily after stitching.  It can be used with any photocopier, inkjet, or laser printer, or you can trace patterns without a light box.  Each pack contains 30 sheets of paper.  $17.95

The Roll and Press tool is very useful for pressing seams when paper piecing.  Simply roll the tool to press a seam or fold:  straight, curved, or paper pieced seams. It won't pull or distort fabric; the wheel is tapered to focus pressure on the seam. It features a comfortable, ergonomic handle. $15.95

Soft Fuse is our go-to product for fusing wool.  It is available in rolls for $19.95 or packages of 10 sheets for $10.
Kay is super excited to be heading north to Joplin on July 19 to present a wool trunk show to the members of the Joplin Town and Country Quilters.  The meeting starts at 1:00.  The best part is that you're invited to attend even if you're not a member of the guild.  No reservation is required.  The meeting will be held at Peace Lutheran Church, 3100 N St Louis Street in Joplin.  For more info and a map, please visit http://www.townandcountryquilters.com/

In addition to the trunk show, Kay will be bringing goodies from the shop to sell.  If you've attended any of Kay's programs, you know she brings a LOT to tempt you.  If you have any specific item you'd like her to bring, please e-mail info@sewgracefulquilting.com NLT July 17 with your wish list.

So......why not get a group of friends together and carpool to Joplin for a fun filled day on July 19.
This week for our "when it's gone, it's gone" section are featuring a vintage inspired panel designed by Moda fabrics.  The panel measures 24" x 44" and would be cute made into a small quilt as shown.  We have seen the panel cut apart with sashing added to make a larger throw size quilt.  Whatever you do with it, it's sure to very sweet.  $10.95

Please e-mail info@sewgracefulquilting.com to reserve.
This week for our Sample Sale we are featuring Cup of Posies.  Debby did a beautiful job embroidering the cup of flowers and Darlene's quilting really brings this piece to life.  It measures 18" x 18".  $35 plus shipping

Buttermilk Basin Boo kit

In our newsletter last week, we mentioned sharing some fall themed projects in future newsletters.  We are starting with "Boo" designed by Stacy of Buttermilk Basin.  Your $24.95 kit includes the pattern, background toweling fabric and wool.  We have ours displayed on an Ackfeld hanger, but it would also be cute displayed as a tea towel.

When opened "Boo" measures 16 1/2" x 29 1/2".
"Harvest Blessings" by Norma Whaley is one of our favorite fall wall hangings.  It is a combination of simple piecing and wool applique.  Your $68.95 kit includes the pattern, wool for applique, an assortment of shirting type cream fabrics, homespun fabric for baskets and borders, inner border and binding.  Finishes 38" x 38".
With ever increasing prices, it became necessary for us to consider raising fabric prices.  It's not an easy decision but one we feel we must make in order to continue in business.  Beginning August 1, all regular cotton fabric will be $11.95 per yard (flannel, linen and sandcastle prices will be more expensive).

To soften the inceased price blow, we are having an in-store sale beginning July 7 and running through July 30.

All sale fabric - $5 a yard, 1 yard minimum
Precuts - 15% off (mini-charms, charms, layer cakes, jelly rolls)
Selected fabrics - $8 per yard, 1 yard minimum
