Last minute gift ideas

It's hard to believe we are approaching the end of 2019.  This will be our last newsletter of the year since Christmas is next week.  We will be closed Dec 22 - Jan 1 to enjoy some time with family and friends.  We also plan to take a day to do some cleaning and reorganizing at the shop.

The first kit we want to share is for those who love to embroider.  "Heart of Christmas" contains patterns for 3 hearts.  Your $12.95 kit includes the pattern for all three hearts, stitchery fabric and backing fabric for one heart and a red star button. 

We had a few extra minutes with nothing to do so did one of our favorite mindless tasks and looked at the Moda website for new products.  We couldn't wait to call Kay and let her know Aurifil now has a gorgeous assortment of 80 weight thread.  She's been using it for hand applique and loves it -- the stitches are almost invisible.  So......if you want to treat yourself to a super special gift, let us know and we'll get an assortment ordered for you.  The Moda warehouse is closed through Christmas but the order will be waiting for them to process upon their return. 45 spools of 100% cotton thread, 306 yards per spool, $360 for the entire set

The next kit, Snow Angels, features one of our favorite winter themes -- snowmen, of course.  The designer designed these cute snowmen as ornaments, each holding a letter to spell out "Joy".  We thought it would be cute to change the pattern and create a wallhanging featuring the little guys spelling out Joy.  Your $32.95 kit includes the pattern with our changes, cotton fabrics by Lynette Anderson, wool for applique and binding. Quilt finishes 22 1/2" x 22 1/2".

If you need a last minute stocking stuffer how about a cute metal tin with a hinged top?  These little tins are the perfect size to tuck in your stitching bag, purse or pocket.  We keep one in our stitching bag containing a small bottle of Roxanne's glue, a needle and a small pair of scissors.  The one in our purse has M&Ms (of course!).  If you'd like us to help you fill your tin(s) just let us know when you place your order (we even have M&Ms we can include). 2 1/2" x 3", $2.45 each

This week for our "when it's gone, it's gone" section, we are featuring a cute Christmas wallhanging, Merry Christmas.  The kit is regularly priced $16.95 but we are offering it at a 30% discount ($11.87). Kit includes pattern, fabrics for the top, binding and backing fabric.  It finishes 13 1/2" x 18 1/2". Only 2 kits are left so don't hesitate if you want this.

Star of Wonder kits

We know this is a super hectic time of year for many of you so will jump right in with what we'd like to share this week.

The first project, Star of Wonder, is one of our winter favorites.  It combines wool applique with easy embroidery to create a timeless classic.  Your $15.95 kit includes the pattern, background cotton and wool for applique.  It finishes 8" x 10" - we repurposed an old frame we had on hand.....perhaps you can do the same or visit a second hand store to find the perfect frame.

If you'd like a thread kit containing Valdani perle cotton size 12 (the same thread we used for ours), please let us know when you place your order. 

The next set of patterns are finished as stockings but we think they would be darling set together as a quilt. You could use cotton or wool for the applique.  Each $10 pattern contains patterns for 2 stockings. If you'd like us to put together kits for any (or all) of these patterns, please let us know.  We are always happy to put together kits.

The 2019 Christmas - Winter mega issue of Punch Needle & Primitive Stitcher arrived and it is packed with all sorts of goodies.....30 projects for $14.99. Don't let the fact the magazine is geared toward punch needle and cross stitch deter you if you work in wool -- many of the projects can be adapted to wool applique or rug hooking.

We realized we neglected to share the fall issue of Punch Needle & Primitive Stitcher magazine.  The fall issue contains 19 projects and is $8.99.

We realize the next project is out of season but we wanted to let you know we have made kits for our very popular "Midnight Silhouette" quilt designed by Blackbird Designs.  Your $174.95 kit includes the pattern, fabrics for the quilt top, borders and binding.  Your fabrics may vary slightly from the photo shown but we have assembled a beautiful selection of black, rust, gold and green fabric.  The quilt finishes 68" x 84". If you would prefer to use your own fabric, the pattern is available for $12.95.

This week for our "when it's gone, it's gone" section, we are featuring "Primitive Christmas" by Lynette Anderson.  Your $39.95 kit includes the pattern, fabrics for the top, wool for the star, borders, binding, hand painted Santa and star buttons and Primitive Gatherings' triangle paper.  It finishes 10" x 13". Since this is a pattern we will not be carrying in the future, the pattern and/or buttons are not available for purchase separately.

Hopefully your Thanksgiving was as nice as ours.  We enjoyed spending time with family and friends and, of course, ate too much.  We're ready to enter into the holiday season and looking forward to having some down time around Christmas.  We will be closed Dec 22 - Jan 1.

Erin R made the sample for our Pine Tree Strip Quilt.  Your $64.95 kit includes the pattern, fabrics for the top and binding.  We used a Kansas Troubles jelly roll and Primitive Gatherings' muslin for the background.  While you may not have time to finish the quilt for the holiday season this year, it's not to early to think about Christmas 2020. Quilt finishes 57" x 62"

Debby had a lot of fun making these darling Christmas ornaments.  Each ornament is preprinted on a beautiful background fabric.  All you have to do is add wool and some simple stitching and you have a dozen ornaments.  If you prefer to use the handmade ornaments your children and grandchildren made to decorate your tree, these also double as decorations for gift bags.  Simply attach to a gift bag with a pretty ribbon and you have a one of a kind gift. Your $22.95 kit includes the pattern, the preprinted fabric (shown in photo 2 below), wool for applique, backing fabric and ornament hanger.  The first photo is from the pattern cover and shows the variety of designs (the fringe is not included in your kit).
