Shop update as of May 29, 2024

Hi everyone.  It's Kay filling in for Darlene.  NW Arkansas was hit was a tornado in the early hours of Sunday, May 26.  Darlene, Debby and their mother's homes were all spared damage; however, they were without power until yesterday.  The quilt shop wasn't damaged, despite the fact it is surrounded by large trees.  If you've ever been impacted by severe weather, you can understand how stressful the situation can be. Since they're without internet, Darlene asked if I'd mind sending a newsletter.

Prior to the tornado, the air conditioning at the shop went out and the technician determined the unit needs to be replaced which necessitated moving shelves, etc.  They'll be out late this week or early next week to install the new unit.

So......between the stress of the devastation to their hometown, having no power, trying to keep lifesaving meds refrigerated and having to have a new A/C installed, the shop will be closed for a week.  It will reopen Thursday, June 6.

This week I am sharing some fun projects but please keep in mind that nothing will ship until June 6.  Thanks so much for your patience and understanding.

"In the Season Thereof" is one of my personal favorites.  When we find a new pattern, we decide amongst ourselves who gets to make the sample.  I have to say I was a bit disappointed that Darlene won the opportunity to make this one.  I think the mouse in the winter block is absolutely too adorable!  Your $42.95 kit includes the pattern, wool for applique, borders and binding. It finishes 22 1/2" x 26".
I got to make the sample for Dawn Heese's "Live Simply" wall hanging.  I used a beautiful Diamond Textile homespun fabric for the background and wool for the applique.  I liked the project but after Darlene added her beautiful quilting, I loved the project.  Your $33.95 kit includes the Winter 2019 issue of Primitive Quilts and Projects magazine (with our changes), background cotton, wool for applique and binding.  20 1/2" x 25".
Debby won the chance to stitch "My Little Home."  It is such a sweet small quilt.  If you are looking for a fun take along summer project, this might be perfect.  Your $24.95 kit includes the pattern, fabrics for the top, binding and backing fabric.

Finishes 15" x 19".

Another project that would be a perfect take along project for a long road trip is "Warm Wishes".  I made the sample and loved every last stitch in this quilt.  My quilt features cotton applique; however, it would be absolutely adorable in wool.  If you are a less primitive quilter, it would be pretty using a more contemporary fabric palette.

The shop can't get the Diamond Textiles bundles to kit the quilt but is offering the pattern for $24.95.  The first photo below shows the quilt as pictured on the pattern cover, the second shows my work in progress and the final two show closeups for blocks in progress.
This week for the "when it's gone, it's gone" section I am featuring another of my favorites.  I was tidying the shop the other day and found one more kit for the "Four Seasons" table topper.  This kit features cotton applique using Diamond Textile homespun fabrics with a small bit of wool applique.  Your $89.95 kit contains the pattern, fabrics to make the quilt top including tabs, wool (the birds and rabbit are wool), backing fabric and binding.

.....yes you read the description corrently......the kit includes backing fabric.

Finishes 30" diameter

If you'd prefer to use your own fabrics (or do the project entirely in wool), the pattern is available for $27.95.  The pattern contains full size drawings so there is no need to have to enlarge it.

Since I'm writing the newsletter, I get to decide which project will be featured in the Sample Sale section.  I am clearing out some of my quilts and offering them for sale.  I really love this quilt but with limited wall and storage space, decided to let it go.  The quilt features hand dyed wool applique and pretty embroidery on homespun background fabrics.  The quilt was designed by Buttermilk Basin.  I hand quilted it using Valdani perle cotton size 12 and the big stitch.  46" x 46"

$275 plus shipping

If you'd like the purchase the quilt, please send an e-mail to info@sewgracefulquilting.com.  Neither Darlene nor Debby have internet, so I'll be checking the shop e-mail box until they're back on-line.  I'll be sure to pass your order along to Debby.

55" x 55"

It felt fun to be writing another newsletter; however, I will close and get back to working on my Baltimore album quilt.  The end is in view.  If you'd like to follow my progress, be sure to follow me on instagram.  kayharmon01 (that is zero one).

Hope you have a great day.
Kay and Debby and Darlene
