Kay had a great time at the quilt show in Pittsburg last week.  If you stopped by the booth you may have been somewhat surprised by the "cash box" she was using.  We received this text from her:  "Well I goofed big time....I got about 6 miles from Pitt and realized I forgot the money bag.  After my initial panic subsided I decided I'd just run to Walmart and buy something and get $100 cash.  I got my 5 - $20 bills and was able to get change for two of them at the service desk.  Knowing I needed more change, I bought 2 avocados and a nectarine -- running one through the register at a time.  The next morning I got out the cash box which contains the change and quickly realized I couldn't open it because the key is on the money bag which is at the shop........so I improvised." Your $56.95 kit includes the pattern, fabrics for the top and binding.  The pattern is out of print and no longer available without purchase of the kit.  At the show someone asked about Karen K Buckley curved scissors which prompted us to place an order for a few pair.  Karen says "The benefit of a curved tip is that it allows you to clip close to your fabric without cutting into your quilt top.  These scissors are fabulous for clipping threads for machine quilting, machine applique and machine embroidery.  They have a serrated blade, a very comfortable handle, just like all of our other scissors and a right or left hander can use them with ease." Scissors measure 3 3/4".  $23.50 - let us know if we can reserve a pair for you While we were on the website, we noticed Karen has recently released a new multipurpose pair of scissors.  She says this "This is my second pair of straight blade scissors.  After the 5" orange handle multipurpose scissors hit the market I had lots of requests for this type of scissors but with a longer blade.  So, here they are.  They are great for cutting templates (freezer paper, Templar), fabric and fabric with fusible stabilizers.  The blades are stainless steel.  The handles have the same soft, ergonomic grip as our other Perfect Scissors™.  They cut sharp to the point and come with a plastic protective cover.  Great for both right and left hand cutting." This week we have three new projects to share with you.  The first two are from one of our favorite primitive designers:  Bits by Joan.  Many of her pieces are designed to fit in her custom frames -- the frames have been out of stock for many months as she searched for a source to make them to her specifications.  Fortunately, she found a source and they're back in stock.  The frames feature a flip open backing which allows for the stitched piece to be removed with the seasons.  They also have an easel back which allows them to be displayed on a table.  If you'd prefer to hang them, they also have a hanging tab......in a nutshell....she thought of everything.

"Punkin Party" finishes 8" x 15" when framed (the frame opening is 4 1/2" x 11 1/2").  Your $14.95 kit includes the pattern, Diamond Textile cotton for the background and wool for the applique.  If you'd like a thread kit, please let us know when you place your order.

Changing gears from whimsical to elegant.....we are over the top in love with our newest table runner.  We used French General's toweling as the background and think it gives the runner such a polished look.  Your $29.95 kit includes the pattern (with our changes), toweling and wool for applique.  It finishes 16 1/2" x 43".  If you need your runner longer, let us know and we can make a custom kit for you. If you'd prefer to use your own materials, the pattern is available for $9.

We are excited to share a couple of new books that are right up our primitive alley.  "Autumn Bouquet" by Sharon Keightley contains a mixture of piecing and applique.  The book should arrive mid-September and as soon as we receive it, we'll let you know.  80 pages $25.99

We're getting in the mood for fall

If you have children or grandchildren who headed back to school, we hope you're in your school routine.  Darlene's granddaughter started first grade this year and is enjoying her back to school structured routine.  For those who haven't any school age kids, you've probably changed your driving routes to avoid the congestion around schools.
Speaking of congestion......if you plan to visit us at the shop be aware the Frisco Festival is going on in downtown Rogers Aug 22-24 and many streets will be blocked and/or congested.  You may want to use an alternate route to avoid the downtown area.

Lots of snowmen

Since we recently endured the hottest day of the year so far, we though we'd begin by sharing a few projects featuring snowmen.

The first project, Aubrey Lou, is just too cute.  We finished ours to fit on a Stix stand but it would be equally cute finished as a pincushion, small wall hanging or a bowl filler.  Your $14.95 kit includes the pattern, background cotton, wool for applique and buttons.  Ours finished 4" wide x 8" tall.  If you'd like a thread kit, let us know.  We'll be happy to pull the same threads we used on our sample.

The Stix are available in 3 heights:  8", 10" or 12" -- each is $4.95. 

Snowball Fun features easy piecing along with wool applique.  Your $64.95 kit contains the pattern by Lynette Anderson, fabrics for the top, borders, wool for applique and binding.  It finishes 43" x 52". We have only 2 kits left and will not be making more so don't delay if you're interested in buying it.  We do not have the pattern available separately.

A Blackbird Gathering
