It's hard to believe the first month of 2021 is coming to a close soon. It's been a busy month for us for several reasons one of which we can finally share. Late last year we were invited to participate in a FB group to create a super fun project. We worked with 8 other shops to create a wonderful make believe wool village.
Starting March 1, 2021 and ending April 30, 2021, each shop will offer a kit and a pattern for a piece of this village. We are working on the pricing but our pricing will include FREE shipping for the kit. But that’s not all, you can choose from different settings to complete your own personal village. Several shops, including us, will offer finishing kits.

As promised last week, we have fat quarter bundles of a selection of fabrics from Kim Diehl's newest line "Gratitude and Grace". Each bundle contains 8 fat quarters. $22
We received our shipment of Quiltmania magazines. Carol has made some changes to the magazine and we think it's even better than before. This issue contains 6 projects as well as the first part of Nathalie Meance's mystery quilt "Pour Helene". $14.99
We also received our shipment of the Spring issue of Primitive Quilts & Projects magazine. This issue contains Kay's "Through the Barn Door" quilt pattern. We are waiting on one fabric to complete our first cutting of kits. We have an order in for more fabric for a second cutting and are disappointed that the main fabric is is very limited supply until April. So.....if you know you absolutely must have a kit before May please get your order in quickly.
This week for our "when it's gone, it's gone" section, we are featuring a wonderful book published by Quiltmania, "Meanderings of a Quilt Collector" by Jane Lury. She has travelled widely and acquired many fabulous quilts including early English and American chintz pieces, French Boutis and quilted Indian floor-spreads. This book hasmore than 200 wonderful photos, and its author tells delightful stories both of collecting adventures, and fascinating historical research into the sources of quilts, and the amazing materials, cotton, silk, wool from which they were created. The book also has patterns for 3 quilts. Hardbound coffee table style book containing 320 pages. Regularly $56.95 -- now $49.95.
What a busy week we've enjoyed! The weather has been brisk but sunny with some of the most breathtaking sunrises we've ever seen. Sunshine makes us feel creative and inspired. We received a new shipment of Kim Diehl fabrics and have our creative thinking caps on. We'll have fat quarter bundles ready next week.
This week we are super excited to share another Blackbird Designs' out of print book. When we're able to get copies of any Blackbird book, we grab them. We were able to get 15 copies of When the Cold Wind Blows so are offering them to you at $24.95 each. This book contains patterns for some great quilts. Our two favorites are the cover quilt and the basket quilt.
If you'd like us to put together a starter kit of fat quarters so you can make your own basket quilt, let us know. We'll need to know the colorway you'd prefer and how much money you'd like to spend. We love helping people choose fabric!
Jeanne Horton is one of our favorite primitive designers. We have a couple fat quarter bundles of one of her older lines of fabric, Riverbanks. It's a gorgeous combination of muted fabrics. 39 fat quarters - $107.25.

Darlene recently completed an adorable pincushion featuring a hedgehog. Your $10.95 "Hedgehog Pin Cushion" kit includes the pattern, background cotton, wool for applique, buttons (color will vary) and backing fabric.

This week we are sharing something old that is new again. Several years ago we offered a block of the month using Blackbird Designs' book The Raven. Many people were very disappointed when the book went out of print.....but......good news......Barb and Alma have decided to reprint The Raven book.
We are taking preorders now. 66 pages $28. According to our distributors it should be 3-4 weeks before shipment.
Valdani has decided to discontinue some of their threads from the Twisted Tweed line. We have four of the discontinued threads in size 12 perle cotton. Each is $5.45 per ball. PT 3 - blue

Darlene recently completed a beautiful quilt, Birds in Paris. We have it hanging on the tall wall in the shop and it looks so pretty. Your $124.95 kit includes the pattern, fabrics to make the quilt top and binding. The quilt finishes 75" x 75".

We hope 2021 is shaping up to be a great year for you and your loved ones. We are optimistic things will return to what we consider normal and that we will be able to visit with many of you in the shop and during vending events.
With a new year comes new goals....with us the new year signals the beginning of our annual $10 block of the month. In addition to that program, we have two other blocks of the month starting during the first quarter.
This week we want to devote the newsletter to blocks of the month: present, future and past. Our 2021 $10 block of the month is "Birdsong". We have made some changes to the pattern and your kits will include our changes. The background fabrics are cotton and all the applique is wool. The quilt finishes 35" x 35".
The Birdsong block of the month will begin in January and run for 9 months. Each month you'll receive fabric and wool to make one block; during the final month you'll receive borders and binding. The cost for the first month will be $10 for the block and $18 for the pattern (plus shipping if you're not local). Subsequent months are $10 plus shipping.
If you'd prefer to purchase the entire project at one time, the cost is $108.
Sharon P made all the samples for "A Prairie Journey" block of the month which begins Feb 1 and runs for 12 months. The quilts vary in size with the smallest being 12 1/2" square and the largest 30" square. You'll be exposed to a variety of techniques including piecing, cotton applique and wool applique. Each month you'll receive fabric for one quilt top and binding. The book must be purchased separately. Month 1 - $25.99 for the book and $19.95 for the quilt kit. Months 2-12 - $19.95 for the quilt kit.

The Santa, The Tree, The Turkey and Me by Hatched and Patched will begin in March and will run for 8 months. That will give you time to get this darling quilt finished in time for the holiday season in 2021. We chose Diamond Textile fabrics as our backgrounds and are using wool for applique. Our stitching is done with Valdani perle cotton size 12. The quilt finishes 36 1/2" x 41 1/2".
Cost for this block of the month in $24.95 per month (plus shipping) for 8 months. Each month you'll receive a pattern, fabric and wool. Optional items include a Valdani thread kit, needles, stitchery stabilizer and Soft Fuse.
The next blocks of the month are programs we offered in the past. We have packaged these into kits and are selling them as a kit rather than a monthly program.
