We hope you had a safe and fun July 4th holiday.  Ours was filled with watching the awe on our   grandchildren's faces as they watched fireworks and reminiscing that it wasn't too many years ago that we were seeing the same awe on our children's faces.  Sometimes time seems to pass too quickly.   Speaking of time passing quickly, the year is half over.  Each year we seem to be behind with sharing Christmas/winter themed projects.  This year we are ahead of the game and will be sharing projects during the coming weeks, so you won't be behind in your holiday stitching.   The first piece we are sharing is a modification of a pattern by The Wooden Bear.  Your $24.95 kit for Owl by Home for Christmas includes the pattern with our changes, wool for applique, background cotton, borders, snowflake buttons and binding.  Finishes 13 1/2" square. Perhaps you like owls but would prefer a fall look.  If so, Mr Owl is the project for you.  The quilt features wool applique, embroidery and simple piecing.  Your $17.95 kit includes pattern, fabric for the top, wool for applique, borders, binding and backing fabric.  Finishes 14" x 16"

If you're looking for a larger year-round wall hanging featuring owls. the Briar Roots' Hoots 'n Blooms pattern features four darling owls.  Kay's started making her version and is loving the whimsical look.  The pattern is out of print.  $8 If you'd like us to put a kit together, please let us know by emailing info@sewgracefulquilting.com.

This week for our "when it's gone, it's gone" section are featuring our last 2 kits for the Owl Sewing Box and Accessories.  Your $33.95 kit includes the pattern, painted box, wool, pincushion backing fabric, crushed walnut shells, needle bottle, buttons and twill tape.  Please note that some wools are no longer available so wools may not be an exact match to the sample. This week for our Sample Sale, we are featuring a sweet wall hanging commemorating a tribute to mom.  This would be a nice way to remember mom at Christmas.  Kay stitched "Mom" on sandcastle fabric and added a small bit of cotton applique.  The piece finishes 13 1/2" x 18".  $45 plus shipping In case your photo is small, here is the sentiment expressed:  "Mom, you gave the gift of life to me and then in love you set me free.  I thank you for your tender care for deep warm hugs and being there.  I hope that when you think of me a part of you, you'll always see."
