Feb tea towel

Our birthday celebration continues through Saturday, Feb 1.  We've sure enjoyed celebrating with everyone and especially like having a bit more space on our shelves for new fabric arriving soon.

If you are on social media you've probably read about the beautiful exhibit of blue quilts featured in Houston last fall.  Lisa of Primitive Gatherings' recently released a line featuring stunning creams and blue tones.    Unfortunately, we hesitated a bit in ordering and were sad to learn most of the fabric is sold out with no plans to reprint.  We did manage to get two bundles of fat 1/8s of Indigo Gatherings (that's a piece of fabric 9" by approximately 20").  $72 per bundle Please e-mail (info@sewgracefulquilting.com) to place your order.  First come, first served.

Primitive Quilts & Projects magazine arrived

It seems like winter has finally settled in our area for a few weeks.  It's really hard to believe we are approaching the last week of January.  Our birthday party starts Saturday, Jan 25.  We hope to see you one during our week long celebration (Jan 25, 28, 30, Feb 1).

Our first kit this week has a sentiment we often think about as we begin a new year.  Your $29.95 "Out of Scraps" kit includes the wording preprinted on Sandcastle fabric, fabrics for the borders, binding, needle and perle cotton floss.  It finishes 16 1/2" x 16 1/2".

The fabrics in your kit may vary slightly from those pictured but will have the same primitive feel.

The new issue of Primitive Quilts & Projects magazine arrived.  It contains 14 projects including a pattern for a hooked rug and lots of applique patterns.  $9.99 Unfortunately Kay does not have a project in this issue but she should be back in the summer issue with a quick and easy wall hanging.

The response to our version of Jan Patek's Sleigh Bells quilt has been overwhelming.  We have two openings left in the block of the month.  We will likely make a second cutting since the block of the month program sold so quickly; however, fabrics in the second cutting will not be exact matches.  If you've been on the fence about joining, it's probably about time to jump off the fence and join us. There are many things we love about having our shop in the country.  We enjoy watching wildlife and the seclusion.  One thing we absolutely do not like is when we have to call for a repair.  We have been without internet for over a week but have high hopes of being back on line later today.  We mention this to let you know if you've e-mailed and we haven't responded it's because we haven't been able to answer.

Debby said she had a lot of fun stitching "Snow Sampler" designed by Kathy Schmitz.  Your $19.95 kit includes the pattern, fabric for the top, binding and backing fabric.  Kathy framed her stitched piece but we chose to quilt and bind ours.  Finishes 9" x 11".  If you'd like us to include a ball of the valdani thread we used, let us know when you place your order. The current issue of Quiltmania magazine arrived and we absolutely adore the cover quilt.  We love it in blue but can also see it in red/cream or black/cream or perhaps in Diamond Textiles which would give it a primitive look. The cover price of all Quiltmania magazines has increased because of rising costs from paper to transportation costs.  The regular Quiltmania magazine is now $14.99 (it was $13.99). New Jan Patek block of the month

You probably say the same thing about cooky weather where you live but.....temps in the 60s today with rain tomorrow and temps dropping to the 20s following by possibly freezing rain and snow Saturday but highs in the 40s on Sunday.  It's no wonder we dress in layers.

We are super excited to share our newest block of the month, Sleigh Bells designed by Jan Patek.  We liked Jan's pattern but once we started making it decided we didn't enjoy making the template pieced trees and houses.....

......so......we did what we often do and changed the pattern.  Our version is entirely appliqued without any template piecing.  Our version finishes 68 1/2" x 78 1/2". We are offering this as a block of the month beginning Feb.  Each month for 8 months you'll receive fabric to make a block or row along with a schematic showing the use of each fabric.  During the 8th month, you'll receive fabric for the borders, binding and buttons to complete the snowman pail faces.  You'll also receive our changes. The book, Sleigh Bells, must be purchased separately.  The book cost is $18.99. The block of the month cost is $21.95 per month for 8 months. We received Karen Styles' newest book, Seams like Yesterday from Quiltmania.  The book is typical of Quiltmania books -- beautifully illustrated with clearly written instructions.  The book contains patterns for 15 quilts and has 8 pages of full size templates.  168 pages The cost is $51.99.  If you do the math, you'll discover that's only $3.47 per pattern.

It's hard to believe it is almost time for our birthday party.  This year for our celebration we have decided that rather than make it a one day event that we will celebrate the entire week Jan 25 through Feb 1 on the days we are regularly open (Jan 25, Jan 28, Jan 30, Feb 1).  We hope you'll mark your calendars and plan to join the fun. 2020 is off with a bang

Can you believe it's been 20 years since all the anxiety about what would happen to computers when the calendar turned to 2000?  A lot has happened in the past 20 years but we are eagerly anticipating what will happen in 2020.  We are excited to continue to bring you fun and inspiring projects.

We hope lots of happiness is waiting at the top of your staircase. 

Debby has been working to get our newest club underway.  Our "Tea Towel of the Month" club is going to be so much fun.  Each month Debby will stitch a new sample.  We'll share it with you and you can choose whether to purchase or not.  If you know you'll want them all, we're happy to automatically reserve a kit for you.
