New flannel quilt and gift ideas

One administrative note before we jump in.  We will be closed for the Christmas/New Year holiday from Dec 19 - Jan 5.  We will reopen Thursday, Jan 6.  This will be our last newsletter of 2021 (where did that year go!?).  We will be back on Jan 6 with our regular Thursday update.

Hopefully you are finding some time to relax during this typically hectic time of year.  This week we want to share a few projects that will hopefully inspire you.

If you're looking for a super quick, easy and practical project, the Yuletide Gatherings Flannel quilt is just the ticket.  We visualize this in several settings including a nice "cuddle and watch TV" or an "I'm sending you back to college with a new quilt" or a "here's a fun quilt for mom or grandma in assisted living".  The quilt is made with Lisa Bonjean's Moda flannels so it is super soft.  We chose a nice Moda Grunge binding to complement the top.  We prefer to use cotton instead of flannel for our bindings.  Flannel is difficult to stitch through and always gives us a lumpy binding.

Quilt finishes 66 1/2" x 57.  Your $54.95 kit includes the flannel layer cake and binding.
Another easy project is Rosie.  She finishes 18" x 24".  Your $29.95 kit includes the pattern, fabric for top, and binding.

When Jane made our sample, she used Soft Fuse and fused the applique shapes in place. She finished with a simple blanket stitch sewn on the machine.
Sometimes the holiday activity can be overwhelming, and we find ourselves wanting a quiet escape.  Handwork is the perfect escape for us.  Yard of Snowmen is a great long-term project (at least it seemed to be a long-term project to us!).  Your $24.95 kit includes the pattern, background fabric, binding and backing.
With the new year, many think of ways to organize themselves.  How about get a jump on organization with our zippered storage bags?  Both bags feature heavy weight plastic with a nice zipper.  The 7 1/2" x 7" is only $2.95 and is large enough to comfortably hold all your project sewing supplies.

Items pictured in both bags are for display purposes only.
The 8" x 10" is $3.95.
If you're still shopping for the perfect gift, we also have gift certificates available in any amount.
This week for our "when it's gone, it's gone" section we are featuring the last of our Wool Works magazines.  We have Vol 2, Issue 2 (the magazine with the dragonfly) and Vol 3, Issue 2 (the magazine with the ladies) available.  Each is $9.99.

As a reminder, Wool Works magazines are no longer being printed.
Please e-mail info@sewgracefulquilting.com to place your order.

We wish each of you a Merry Christmas and a great 2022.  We are looking forward to an exciting 2022.
See you soon.

Our favorite notions

One administrative note before we jump in with our newsletter of notions.  We will be closed for the Christmas/New Year holiday from Dec 19 - Jan 5.  We will reopen Thursday, Jan 6.

This week we want to share a few of our favorite notions.  They all would make great gifts to yourself or someone special.  If you're like us, you can't have too many pairs of scissors.  Unfortunately, we notice prices of these scissors have increased so when we restock the new scissors will be more expensive.

Karen K Buckley scissors are our workhorse scissors.  The first three pairs shown below all have a serrated blade.  This special blade pulls the fabric into the scissors rather than pushing it always like traditional scissors. Things you will like about these scissors...cushioned handle, easy for right or left hander to use, blades sharp to the very tip, serrated blade keeps fabric from fraying, light weight and comfortable.

You may order via our website https://www.sewgracefulquilting.com/ or e-mail info@sewgracefulquilting.com.
The next three pairs of scissors are also made by Karen K Buckley and are multipurpose or utility scissors.  They are great for cutting templates (freezer paper, Templar), fabric and fabric with fusible stabilizers. The blades are stainless steel. The handles have the same soft, ergonomic grip as our other Perfect Scissors. They cut sharp to the point and come with a plastic protective cover. Great for both right and left hand cutting.

Pink Handle - 7 1/2" - $29.95
Orange handle - 5 1/2" - $27.50
Seafoam handle - 4 1/2" - $21.95 -- Karen's newest style
We received some new needle minder designs:  Barnyard Party, Blackbird, Pansies and the Folkart Willow Tree.  To see all the needle minders we have available, please visit our website https://www.sewgracefulquilting.com/

$9.50 each
With the start of a new year, how about exploring new applique techniques?  One of Kay's favorite techniques involves the use of Apliquick tools.  With these tools and a little practice you'll be able to get perfectly smooth turned applique shapes.  Includes 2 rods - both are pointed on one end; one has a forked end; one has a flat beveled end.  Made of surgical steel.  $42 per set

The photo below is an example of a project made using the Apliquick tools.
We recommend the Hugs and Kisses Applique Paper for use with the Apliquick rods.  Kay has used several brands of applique paper and said she gets the best results with this brand.  Each package contains 20 sheets.  $23.95
While we're on the subject of learning new techniques.....maybe you've been itching to learn rug punching.  If so, we have punches.  We have both the #10 which is 1/4" and the #14 which is 1/8".  Both are made by the Oxford Company - $38.95 each
The OESD Perfect Pressing Cloth is perfect for pressing your finished applique, embroidery or cross stitch project.  Press puckers out of embroidered fabrics. Prevents embroidery texture from getting crushed. Absorbs steam to set a perfectly pressed finish. Use over and over

Use it like a traditional press cloth – place project right side up on ironing surface and place press cloth over the top of the project. Try using the Perfect Embroidery Press Cloth with quilt blocks – the texture of the press cloth is perfect for accommodating bulky seams.  20" square - $5.99
We also have gift certificates available in any amount.
This week for our "when it's gone, it's gone" section we are featuring a really cute wall hanging.  Your $36.95 Bear and Snowman kit includes the pattern, Moda's Primitive Gatherings navy background fabric, wool for applique, borders and binding.  Finishes 21 1/2" x 27 1/2"

We have a couple of patterns available if you'd prefer to use your own materials - $12.95

Please e-mail info@sewgracefulquilting.com to place your order.

See you soon.

Scrumptious indulgent gifts

We hope your Thanksgiving holiday was as nice as ours.  We enjoyed spending time with our kids and grandkids and making memories.  With the mild record breaking weather we've experienced lately, it's hard to believe Christmas is right around the corner.

Our shipment of Quiltmania and Simply Vintage magazines arrived.  If you're on auto ship, Debby is processing your shipment.  The cover of Simply Vintage features a beautiful applique quilt designed by Dawn Heese.  If you're interested in a kit, please e-mail info@sewgracefulquilting.com.  We have most of the fabrics Dawn used and will be happy to put together a kit for you.

The winter issue contains 20 projects.  Don't delay in ordering your copy -- the winter issue usually sells out quickly.  $18.99
The quilt on the cover of Quiltmania #146 is absolutely stunning.  The magazine contains 7 projects including the final installment of the 2021 mystery project.  $14.99
If you're looking for a practical yet unique gift, why not consider a t-shirt from Sew Graceful?  We have shirts available in both short and long sleeves.  These are nice quality pre-washed shirts so shrinkage is minimal.  We have them available in sizes medium through 3XL.  Please e-mail info@sewgracefulquilting.com and we will check availability.  We need to know the sleeve length (long or short), color and size.

Short sleeve - $24.95  Long sleeve - $28.95

The first photo shows the color selections available.  The subsequent photos show the short and long sleeve versions.  Some shirts have white printing and others black printing.  If the ink color is of concern to you, please let us know the color you prefer when you e-mail.  We'll do our best to accommodate.
If you're looking for a nice assortment of wools, we have Warp and Weft Wool charm packs.  Each pack contains 12-5" squares of wool.  Please note the wool has not been washed and is not felted.  $8.95

These make a great stocking stuffer or a fun gift for yourself.
Each holiday season we like to feature gift items that are super special.....those things that make our heart skip a beat......indulgent gifts we will give ourselves.  We will be placing an order for these items Dec 6 so they'll arrive in time for Christmas.  Please e-mail info@sewgracefulquilting.com with your choice(s).

The Retro Farmhouse wool bundle by Fig Tree Quilts is so beautiful.  Each bundle contains 14-fat 1/8 cuts of Weeks Dye Works wool (appx 13" x 15").  $182
The Farmhouse 2 bundle also by Fig Tree Quilts is a beautiful coordinating bundle.  It contains 21 fat twelfths cuts (approx. 9" x 17") of 100% wool.  $182
This week for our "when it's gone, it's gone" section we are featuring a kit by Robin Vizonne.  Your $15.95 kit includes the Primitive Quilts magazine, background cotton and wool for the applique.  We framed ours in an 8" x 10" frame but it would be equally cute finished as a wall hanging or pillow.

We have only 1 kit available.  Please e-mail info@sewgracefulquilting.com to place your order.

See you soon.
