Some fun fall projects

Kay had a wonderful time visiting with everyone at the quilt show in Joplin last week.  A lot goes into getting ready for a show.....deciding what to take is sometimes agonizing.  We want to take everything but know space dictates we leave some goodies at home.  Below are photos of the before we load and after set up.  We sometimes wonder just how we are able to cram all those goodies in an SUV!
We are loving these cooler days.....perfect stitching weather.  If you combine simple piecing and rich autumn tones you'll discover "Humble Hands".  The quilt finishes 58" x 70" so is the perfect snuggling under size.  It would be beautiful hung on the wall, draped over the foot of a large bed, as a bed covering for a small bed or neatly folded and tucked among a stack of quilts to add a spark of color.

Your $99.95 kit includes the pattern, fabric for the top and binding.  Please note the pattern is in Quiltmania #115 and the entire magazine is included in the kit.
Autumn Grace is a quick and fun to stitch project.  Kay hand quilted hers using Valdani perle cotton #12 and the big stitch.  Quick, easy and done.  Your $21.95 kit includes the pattern, background cotton, wool for applique and binding.  Finishes 8" x 12 1/2".  If you'd prefer to use your own supplies, the pattern is available for $10.

You'll receive two designs in the pattern (as shown below).
We shouldn't have to wait much longer for the arrival of Kim Diehl's book "Simple Harvest".  If you've preordered, we have you on the list.  If you haven't preordered, please do so now so you won't miss out on this great book in Kim's unique style. You can e-mail info@sewgracefulquilting.com or call 479-372-7403 to preorder.

Simple Harvest includes 19 fall themed project including lap quilts, wall quilts, kitchen towels, sewing notions, place mats and more.  It also includes recipes and decorating tips.  128 pages $28.99
We'll be back next week with more to inspire you.  See you soon.

Fall is in the air

Kathy Schmitz' book "Stitches from the Harvest" arrived yesterday.....just in time for the start of fall.  Now if Mother Nature would cooperate and drop our temps just a few degrees and scoot the humidity away.....the weather would feel like fall.  Kathy's book is 80 pages filled with the most charming fall themed projects.  We want to do them all -- now!  If you're not a fan of embroidery, most projects could easily be transformed into wool or cotton applique.  $24.95

Let us know if we can reserve a copy for you (info@sewgracefulquilting.com) or 479-372-7403.  You can also order on line by visiting http://sewgracefulquilting.com/index.html
"The Crow Quilt" is a perfect seasonal wall hanging.  Your $32.95 kit includes the pattern, fabric for the top and binding.  The quilt does not contain any wool.  In addition to the pattern for the crow quilt, the pattern also contains a cardinal and an eagle quilt.
We have one of our favorite quilt kits back in stock.  "Butternut" has a timeless look.  Your $99.95 kit includes the pattern, fabric to make the quilt top and binding.  If you'd like help in choosing a backing fabric, we're happy to assist with that.

The quilt finishes 60" x 74"

Please note a couple of the fabrics used in the original quilt are out of print but Kay chose substitutes that are close matches.
Hopefully you have your calendars marked and are planning to visit Kay at the Town and Country Quilters Guild show Sep 22 or 23 (9:00-5:00).  The show will be held in a new location in the Joplin (MO) Memorial Hall, 212 W 8th Street.  She will have all the items in this newsletter plus tons more to inspire and tempt you.  For more info visit http://www.townandcountryquilters.com/quilt-show

We also invite you to visit the Pryor (OK) Patchers Quilt Guild show Sep 22 or 23 (9:00 - 4:00).  Their show will be held at the Mid America Expo Center in Pryor.  For more info visit http://www.pryorpatchers.com/

Perhaps you can plan to visit Joplin on Friday and plan a road trip to Pryor on Saturday.
We'll be back next week with more to inspire you.  See you soon.

Wooly Row by Row - we are SO excited!

This recently taken photo proves fall is just around the corner even though the calendar says it'll arrive in a couple of weeks......we just know it's not going to be long before the mornings are chilly and leaves turn the beautiful rich primitive colors we love.
We had such a great time meeting everyone who stopped by the show during Row by Row, we decided to participate in the Wooly Row by Row Experience.  With our love of wool it seems fitting that we share that love with everyone.

The Wooly program differs from the "regular" Row by Row in that you don't have to visit the shop to participate.  Each participating shop designed an 8" x 8" finished wool block with the theme "Basket of Blossoms".  Our block "Basket of Blossoms" is full of beautiful flowers one might harvest from their flower garden.  The program dates are Oct 16 - Dec 15, 2017.  We'll have more details as time draws closer but wanted to give you a heads up.

Meanwhile, you can pre-order a kit for $16.95 (we can't ship until Oct 16).  We also have a Valdani perle cotton #12 thread kit available for $14.  E-mail (info@sewgracefulquilting.com), call 479-372-7403 or visit our website http://sewgracefulquilting.com/ to pre-order.
Several weeks ago we offered Cheri Payne's "Ever Thankful" kit.  At that time, we mentioned Cheri had closed her business because of her battle with cancer.  Before she closed, we were able to buy "Kitty Corn" and now have kits available.  Your $36.95 kit includes the pattern, fabrics for the top, wool for the applique and binding.  This project is paper pieced.  If you're new to paper piecing or haven't used the technique in a while, we recommend making a practice block with scrap fabric before tackling the kit.

If you missed out on Ever Thankful, we still have kits available.  Your $29.95 kit includes the pattern, background fabrics, wool for applique and binding.
Our Quiltmania magazine shipment should arrive any day.  The fall issues seem to sell out quickly so if you're not on automatic to receive any of the Quiltmania magazines and would like to be, please e-mail (info@sewgracefulquilting.com) or call 479-372-7403.  You can also order on line by visiting http://sewgracefulquilting.com/

Simply Vintage features 22 projects $17.99
The regular Quiltmania magazine contains 128 pages of happiness.  It's also the special 20 year edition.  We expect this will sell out quickly.  $13.99
We don't have a photo of the cover of Simply Moderne #10 but are sure it's filled with lots of inspiration.  $17.99

Please let us know if we can reserve a copy of any (or all) of these Quiltmania magazines.

Before we close we want to remind you of the Discovery Quilters of Shell Knob MO show this Sat & Sun (Sep 16-17).  The show is held at the Shell Knob Elementary School (on Hwy 39 in Shell Knob).  Saturday hours are 9:00-5:00 and Sunday 9:00-3:00.  Admission is $5.
We'll be back next week with more projects to inspire you.  See you soon.

New fall projects

Thanks for the outpouring of love and support during the difficult time of saying goodbye to our sweet dad.  Things are settling back to the new normal without him.  Debby is on a well deserved vacation and Kay will be filling in at the shop -- when Darlene and Kay work together there's no telling what new projects they'll come up with.

Before Debby left, she finished the most darling fall project.  Your "If the Shoe Fits" kit includes the pattern, fabrics for the top, wool for applique, buttons for the shoes, binding and backing fabric.  It finishes 13" x 27" so is definitely something you could have finished and ready for the quickly approaching fall decorating season.  $26.95 for the kit

If you'd prefer to use your own materials, the pattern is available for $9.
Kay's newest pattern "Harvest Home" will fit the large oval trays we have in stock.  Your $36.95 kit includes the pattern, background cotton, wool for applique, backing fabric and rick rack.  If you'd prefer to use your own fabrics, the pattern is available for $10.

Trays are available for $48.  Since additional postage is required, we don't have them on our website.  Please e-mail (info@sewgracefulquilting.com) or call 479-372-7403 and we will quote a shipping cost.
Quiltmania 120 finally arrived.  We were waiting for the children's special issue to be added to our order....the magazines were held up in customs......but they've arrived.  If you're on auto ship, Debby processed your order on Tuesday.  If you're local, your magazine is safely in your folder waiting for your visit.  This issue is packed full of great patterns.  We've included a few of our favorites below.  $13.99
Merrie Christmas kits are back in stock just in time to get you in the mood for cooler weather.  Kits include the pattern, Diamond Textile background fabrics, wool for applique (wools may vary from the photo), borders and binding.  Finishes 47" x 47".  $159.95
As you're making your fall travel plans, be sure to include quilt shows in your travels.  Two great shows will be held Sep 22 & 23.  Both are within easy driving distance from NW Arkansas.

Since we can't be two places at once, we had to make a tough decision and choose one show.  Since we've never been a vendor at the Town & Country show in Joplin, we chose it.  We've heard really positive comments about the new location for the show - Joplin Memorial Hall, 212 W 8th St, Joplin MO.  Show hours are 10:00-5:00 both days.  For more info visit http://www.townandcountryquilters.com/quilt-show

The Pryor Patches show is also Sep 22 & 23 (9:00-4:00 both days) at the Mid America Expo Center in Pryor OK.  For more info visit http://www.pryorpatchers.com/QuiltShow.html
We'll be back next week with more projects to inspire you.  See you soon.
