A New Vintage Halloween Quilt

 

This week we want to start by sharing some photos of the shop.  Kay spent a day reorganizing and we love the new look.   If you spot something you'd like more info about, please send an e-mail to info@sewgracefulquilting.com. The last time our Moda man visited we ordered the most darling vintage Halloween fabric.  Once it arrived, Debby got busy and pieced the top.  Your $54.95 kit for Vintage Halloween includes the pattern, fabrics for the top, borders and binding.  Quilt finishes 51" x 58". We are including a photo of the entire quilt and a close up so you can see the detail of the fabric.   Darlene pieced the back so ours is actually a reversible quilt.  If you'd like to order the kitty panel, we have it available for $7.30.   We're including a photo of how we pieced our back.   We were over the top excited to learn Blackbird Designs has a new fabric line coming out next year.  The target date is February but with the way shipments are delayed we anticipate a later arrival date.  We are taking pre-orders for fat quarter bundles of Threads that Bind.  Bundles include 27 fabrics - $99.99.  A deposit of $25 will hold a bundle for you.   Please e-mail info@sewgracefulquilting.com to reserve your bundle.   We were excited to receive our shipment of ruler twill tape.  It is usually backordered so we were pleasantly surprised to open our box and find a roll.  The twill tape is 100% cotton, off white, 1/2" wide.  The markings are on one side only.  It is sold by the yard.  95 cents per yard This week for our "when it's gone, it's gone" section we are featuring a cute Halloween kit.  Your $17.95 Boo kit includes the prestamped fabric, pattern, border fabrics, wool and buttons.   We have only one kit so don't delay in e-mailing info@sewgracefulquilting.com to reserve your kit.

We are taking pre-orders for the Owl Sewing Box

 

This week we have lots to share so will jump right in.   The first is an absolutely darling little quilt designed by Crabapple Hill.  It allows you to be a kid at heart again and get out your crayons to color.  If you don't feel comfortable using Meg's technique, it would also be darling as an embroidered piece.  Your $19.95 kit for "Christmas Stocking" includes the pattern, background fabric, binding, the wool strip (the green in the photo) and backing fabric.  7" x 11" We will be happy to put together a thread kit containing the Valdani perle cotton we used for the sample.  Just let us know you'd like a thread kit when you place your order. The hanger is also available.  We have a few in stock and are on back order for more.  With slow supply times, we don't know when we will receive our shipment but will be happy to reserve one for you.  $9.95 for the hanger. We are taking pre-orders for Kay's newest project in the fall issue of Primitive Quilts & Projects magazine.  Your $24.95 kit for the Owl Sewing Box & Accessories includes the painted box, wool, pincushion backing fabric, crushed walnut shells, needle bottle, buttons and twill tape.  4" x 6" x 2" Please note that some wools are no longer available so wools may not be an exact match to the sample.  We have chosen close substitutes.   Pattern is not included in the kit. Let the fall and winter season projects begin

 

It's hard to believe 2021 is over half over.  Since many quilters decorate for the fall and holiday seasons, for the next several weeks we plan to feature kits to help you with your holiday decorating.  If you miss a weekly newsletter, you can easily find past newsletters by visiting our blog https://sewgraceful.blogspot.com/. Our first kit is Woodland Santa by Heart to Hand.  As is common, we changed the pattern and have included our changes in the kit.  Your $44.95 kit includes the background fabrics, wool for applique and binding.  It finishes 15 1/2" x 44 1/2".  If you don't have anything that will work for backing fabric, we will be happy to help you choose a nice backing fabric for your quilt.  Just let us know when you place your order.   We are including some close up photos so you can see the detail on this darling piece.   The next kit, Wishing for Snow, was designed by Kay.  Kits are available in both cotton and wool versions.  Both versions include the pattern, background Diamond Textile fabrics, binding, small black buttons, the rusty angel pendant and rusty star.  Both finish 27" x 27". The applique is cotton in the cotton version; applique is wool in the wool version. Cotton version - $35.95 (the first photo below) Wool version - $41.95 (the second photo below) This week for our "when it's gone, it's gone" section we are featuring Winter Sampler.  We offered this kit several months ago and were holding it for someone.  She changed her mind about wanting the kit so we are offering it to the first person who e-mails info@sewgracefulquilting.com. This is a starter kit for the quilt.  It contains the pattern, the required background fabric, borders and binding.  It contains a large assortment of fabrics for applique in red, green, black, brown and cream.  It also includes red and cream wool for the berries and snowflakes.  You will probably have plenty of fabric for the quilt but may want to add a few of your own from your stash.  Kit (including the pattern with full size templates) $195.   Quilt measures 60" x 70".   We also have one pattern with full size templates - $30.

Remembering Barb

 

We had a different newsletter started but when we heard of Barb Adams' passing we felt compelled to share some of our love of Blackbird Designs.  If you haven't heard, Barb passed away July 4 after a short battle with esophageal cancer.  Barb and Alma started Blackbird Designs in 1998.  We discovered them shortly after they began their company and have been huge fans of their fabric and patterns since.  When we decided to open Sew Graceful, we felt it was only fitting to offer one of their patterns as our first block of the month.    Throughout the years we continued to sell their fabrics and make samples using their patterns.  We have a handful of books and kits left and are offering them first come, first served.   The Raven was out of print for several years and recently was reprinted.  We have three copies of the book.  After we sell the three copies we will be happy to try to get additional copies but we can't guarantee we will be able to get them.  Our distributors are running short on supply of the book and we aren't sure they will be able to get more copies. The Raven - $28 We have several copies of When the Cold Wind Blows.  It is sold out at our distributors so we know we won't be able to get additional copies.   $24.95 We have a handful of kits left for Midnight Silhouette.  Your kit contains the pattern, cotton fabrics to make the quilt top, borders and binding.  This is an all cotton quilt.  It finishes 68" x 84" $174.95 The pattern is out of print and available only with purchase of the kit. We have one kit left for Chelsea Garden from the "You're Invited" book by Blackbird Designs. Fabrics are mostly from Blackbird Designs' Hyde Park fabric line by Moda. Quilt finishes 51" x 68" Kit includes the book and pattern.  $98.95 As of today we are able to get copies of A Little Flower by Blackbird.  The booklet includes the pattern to make the quilt pictured below.  We are out of kits but would be happy to help you choose fabrics to make your own quilt.  Just let us know the colorway you'd like and we will work with you to create the perfect combination of fabrics.   Booklet - $12.95
